What is VATSIM Radar V2? ​

VATSIM Radar version 2.0 is a partial overhaul of VATSIM Radar systems.

When will VATSIM Radar V2 be released? ​

Release is planned for July 2026.

What is the "Next" version of VATSIM Radar? ​

VATSIM Radar Next is an environment where V2 is hosted, normally only accessed by Patreon supporters and members of the special Early Adopters program.

You are expected to see bugs on Next, up to some screens crashing and not loading at all, or website freezes.

How to access Next? ​

While Public Preview is active, no special steps are required.

When will Public Preview end? ​

Next will be closed to testers and supporters at approx. 18z, July 11

Will my friends and settings be available on Next? ​

No, you will have to export your friends and settings to Next. In order to do so:

Friends export ​

  1. Open normal version of VATSIM Radar
  2. Click on top right Settings icon
  3. Open Favorite Lists tab
  4. Export your lists and import them on Next

Settings export ​

  1. Open normal version of VATSIM Radar
  2. Click on left Settings icon in map menu
  3. Open Manage tab
  4. Expand your preset (or save it first)
  5. Export it and import in Save & Load section on Next

Will my friends and settings I created on Next transfer to main version? ​

No, but you will get a chance to export those before it closes.

What are the phases of testing? ​

Phase 1 (Mid-June 2026) - Completed ​

Access to Next is granted to those who applied for Early Adopters in early Summer 2026, but were not selected.

Phase 2 (Late-June 2026) - Completed ​

Access to Next is granted to everyone who registered for the Closed Beta.

Phase 3 (July 2026) - Active ​

Access to Next is granted to everyone without the need to authenticate for a limited time.

Why limited time? ​

Because main developer will have vacation, and Next is unstable environment, so it will be closed before vacation starts.

Is Next under NDA? ​

No. You are allowed to share everything you see on Next with everyone.

Where do I report bugs and leave feedback? ​

Issues are reported on Github.

What will happen to my access after Public Preview finish? ​

Access to Next will be revoked.
